Jefferson County

Jefferson County is the smallest of Central Oregon counties, with a county seat at Madras and smaller communities in Metolius and Culver. It is also the home county of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, whose reservation is in the north part of the county. Jefferson County is known primarily for the productivity of its rich agricultural soils but also has significant sectoral employment in government, manufacturing, tourism and retail. Unemployment levels are typically higher than those of the rest of the state and nation, while educational attainment tends to be lower.
