Who is The Partnership?
The Partnership to End Poverty (The Partnership) is on a mission. We are on a mission to bring the region together to help our low-income neighbors become financially stable. This is both a moral mission and an economic mission. We believe that every Central Oregonian should have a fair chance to live free of poverty. We also believe that the more people in our region who contribute to the economic health of our region, the more likely our region is to succeed and prosper.
We pursue our mission by adhering to a social entrepreneurial model. Just as entrepreneurs change the face of business with innovative approaches, we seek to change social systems by seizing opportunities others miss, by identifying gaps and filling them and by innovating new approaches to poverty reduction.
Ultimately, we at The Partnership (as we call ourselves) share a vision of creating an environment in Central Oregon where all of our citizens have a fair chance to be economically self –sufficient. This creation will result from pursuing such high-leverage activities as collaborative partnerships, cross-sector leadership, nonprofit capacity building and system intervention in the policy arena. We believe that all of the region’s sectors should be involved in poverty reduction, and we will work diligently in our convening role to see that this happens.
Overarching all our work is the belief that poverty is not an inevitable condition and that the devastating effects of poverty on individuals, families and communities can and will be overcome through strategic investment, innovation and intervention. Our ultimate goal is to improve the economic condition of low-income people and to create sustainable prosperity for everyone in our region.
